Real Energy Solutions
RES is the Renewable Energy Division of RealCom Associates (based in Portland, Oregon) providing land acquisition, land use planning and permitting as well as construction services for large and small wind and/or solar developments. They are a team of highly qualified project managers, land acquisition and zoning specialists with the expertise to move quickly to advance project objectives as well as provide accurate forecasting schedules and budgets.
RES considered almost one-hundred different design concepts before selecting this one. I was honored to have survived the stiff competition and happy to have another great client involved with sustainability.
Gryps Offertenportal
Gryps is one of my European clients. They offer a procurement platform for SMEs in Switzerland which enables buyers to quickly receive three matching bids based on their criteria.
The design is intended to convey the idea of a central hub (Gryps) which which expands out (products/services/new territories). It also illustrates the idea of broadcast/communication which is also a part of their IT business.
This design concept was chosen from over 150 designs from around the world. I won one for the USA!
Wallis Engineering
Wallis is not your typical civil engineering firm. Instead of catering to the whims of big developers they work almost exclusively with local governments to plan, design and construct sustainable infrastructure projects that are integrated into the city fabric. In re-branding Wallis I wanted to convey that they were an organization that thought a little deeper.
I designed an identity that was compelling and smart without being boastful. The asterisk becomes not just a design element but a philosophical statement: there is more than meets the eye.
Gorge.net
I designed the first website for internet service provider Gorge.net when they were just a server in my buddy Glenn’s closet. These days Gorge.net is really going places, and I continue oversee their brand. I recently designed graphics for their new fleet of vans.
Glacier Bay Natural Foods
I was asked to create a new brand for a natural foods store in Glacier Bay, Alaska. Glacier Bay is not a bustling metropolis - in fact this was the first “health food” store in those parts. The owners stressed they didn’t want the logo to look “too city.” They worried people there might not be ready for fancy food stores.
I wanted to convey that good, healthy food wasn’t a new concept conceived by city dwellers. This brand says “healthy vibrant goodness” and fits the community like a cozy pair of mukluks.
Reece Security
This company protects people and property with a wide array of technology. They needed a brand that conveyed security and trust. Security companies often brand themselves with intimidating imagery, but Reece needed something a little different. Part of their business is suppling hospitals with patient monitoring tools and we didn’t want to see grandma walking the halls with a barbed wire pit bull logo on her patient badge.
My mantra on this project was “speak softly, carry big stick.” I think it conveys the right message without scaring anybody.
