Wallis Engineering

Wallis is not your typical civil engineering firm. Instead of catering to the whims of big developers they work almost exclusively with local governments to plan, design and construct sustainable infrastructure projects that are integrated into the city fabric. In re-branding Wallis we wanted to convey they were an organization that thought a little deeper.

We gave them an identity that was compelling and smart without being boastful. The asterisk becomes not just a design element but a philosophical statement: there is more than meets the eye.

Superjoynt

This company makes packaged websites that cater to bands and band labels. People in the music industry are scrambling to find the new successful business model for selling music, now that big labels have all but dissapeared. Most new bands have to be their own label - they take care of the stuff the "suits" used to control.

Superjoynt allows bands to easily run their own website and track music sales and their fan base. Now it's easier to keep up with the competition and focus on what they are best at - music!

Fernando

Chances are you have heard Fernando even if you have not heard of him. He is one of those musicians who's name hovers just below the radar most of the time. But that may be about to change.

"Upon first listen to "Enter to Exit," the brilliant new album from Portland songwriter Fernando Viciconte, you may feel you've uncovered some super secret studio session between Elliott (Smith) and Jon Brion." -Billboard Magazine

We provided some out-of the-box press shots and posters for the Record Release Party and the tour.

Glacier Bay Natural Foods

We were asked to create a new brand for a natural foods store in Glacier Bay, Alaska. Glacier Bay is not a bustling metropolis - in fact this was the first "health food" store in those parts. The owners stressed they didn't want the logo to look to "city." They worried people there might not be ready for fancy food stores.

We wanted to convey that good, healthy food wasn't a new concept conceived by city dwellers. This brand says "healthy vibrant goodness" and fits the community like a cozy pair of mukluks.

Reece Security

This company protects people and property with a wide array of technology. They needed a brand that conveyed security and trust. Security companies often brand themselves with intimidating imagery, but they needed something a little different. Part of their business is suppling hospitals with patient monitoring tools and we didn't want to see grandma walking the halls with a barbed wire pit bull logo on her patient badge.

Our mantra on this project was "speak softly, carry big stick." We think we convey the right message without scaring anybody.

CD Packaging

The music industry is a turbulent business. Capturing a new listener in an ocean of bands, genres and hype is a challenge.

Determining your potential listening audience and catering to their unique perception is what we do best. We help artists find the right vehicle to take their music where it needs to go.

Spry Snowboards

Penetrating an already saturated snowboard market was intriguing. We saw what the competition was doing - following each other like a bunch of sheep - so we took a new direction.

The result? Our departure had the phones ringing off the hook and the kids drooling. MTV enlisted us to adorn the set of their winter sports show, bringing six months of free international exposure. The next season the sheep were following our tail.

Presented are excerpts from the catalog.

Nice Packaging

When a flegling snowboard boot manufacurer wanted a clever way to cut costs, we suggested what few design firms would risk. We said,"Let's take it out of the packaging budget!"

Inspired by outsider art, Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap and chairlift philosophers, we created a compelling new spin on the old cardboard box.

This little presentation shows all of the printed sides in 3D with Quicktime VR technology.

Nice Snowboard Boot Ads

Supercloud was called upon in the eleventh hour to produce four ads. We needed to show how light and maneuverable Nice boots were without showing them on a snowboarder (it was summer), and do it in two days. Armed with a camera, a few rolls of film and an iguana, we went to work.
Here are our results.

Gorge.net

We designed the first website for internet service provider Gorge.net. We were known as Stinkbait Communications back then and Gorge.net was just a server in a closet. These days Gorge.net is really going places. Besides designing their identity and current website we also just designed graphics for their new fleet of vans.
